New ACHPER NSW board

The new ACHPER NSW board was elected at last night’s Annual General Meeting, with all current board members re-elected.
Brad McAllister has stepped down as President after 6 dedicated years but will continue as a board member. Kristy O’Mahony is the newly appointed new President of ACHPER NSW, and Kyle Sutton Vice President. Both Kristy and Kyle have been long-term board members and bring a wealth of expertise to the roles.

While Brad will continue on the ACHPER NSW board, we’d like to acknowledge his outstanding contribution as President from 2018-2023.
“Brad has worked tirelessly for ACHPER NSW for 6 years as President and has been on the board since 2012,” said Tracy Puckeridge CEO.
“Brad is a dedicated and passionate leader for the Association, generously volunteering his time whenever required. We have been incredibly fortunate to have Brad in the presidency role; his open-minded and consultative approach has been invaluable. Brad’s effective communication skills brings the best out in the ACHPER NSW board.
A few of Brad’s key achievements as President included:
- Actively involved in NESA meetings
- Key contributor to the growth of ACHPER NSW
- Driving ACHPER NSW financial viability over the last 12 years
- Leading an enhanced strategic direction and plan
- Providing feedback to the media around PDHPE in NSW schools
- Strategic Representative Committee for ACHPER National.
A culmination of Brad’s leadership was ACHPER NSW being honoured as Association of the Year at the 2023 Professional Teachers Councils Awards.
“While we will miss Brad’s steady guidance as President, we’re pleased his expertise and wisdom will remain part of the team.
“We are fortunate to have Brad re-elect onto the ACHPER NSW board, bringing his wealth of knowledge to the new executive team and maintaining his role on the Strategic Representative Committee for ACHPER National,” said Tracy.
Our new President and Vice President
New President Kristy O’Mahony joined the ACHPER NSW Board in 2014, and has been Vice President since 2021. The current Head of PDHPE at Domremy College in Inner Western Sydney, Kristy is an innovative contributor to ACHPER NSW initiatives and direction.
Kyle Sutton steps into the Vice President role, having joined the ACHPER NSW board in 2016 and acted as Treasurer since 2021. Kyle is the current Head Teacher PDHPE and Languages at Merewether High School in the Hunter region and is passionate about quality professional learning.
Both Kristy and Kyle are highly experienced teachers, active advocates and leaders for PDHPE in NSW. Their combined experience on the ACHPER board, as well as in the development and delivery of professional learning over a long period will ensure ACHPER NSW continues to support teachers and lead in PDHPE professional learning.
