NESA has published the NSW curriculum reform timelines, across all years and subject areas, including PDHPE. It’s the start of major change and exciting times for PDHPE in NSW.
The Stage 6 Health and Movement Science syllabus will be among the first to be rolled out. To be released in 2023, it will be taught in schools in 2024 and examined in the HSC in 2025.

Kristy O’Mahony, Head Teacher PDHPE, Domremy Catholic College
ACHPER NSW Vice President
Kristy has taught extensively throughout NSW and overseas. She has contributed to the Sydney Morning Herald HSC Study Guide and has been a HSC marker and writer for PDHPE examinations. Kristy has been an ACHPER NSW Board Member for 7 years and has consulted with various organisations on educational and curriculum matters.
Kyle Sutton, Head Teacher PDHPE and Languages, Merewether High School

An experienced educator, Kyle is enthusiastic and hardworking in his approach to education and has a specific focus on improving teacher quality through the use of engaging professional learning, engaging lessons and resources for student learning. He holds Bachelor of Education (Physical and Health Education) from the UOW.
Lisa Bauer, Head Teacher PDHPE, James Ruse Agricultural High School
Lisa has been a head teacher PDHPE for 14 years, with extensive stage 6 and HSC marking experience. She has taught in both the independent and public sector and holds a Master of Teaching from the University of Sydney. Lisa is involved in improving pedagogical practices through mentoring, professional development groups and working with teachers on their accreditation processes.
Janice Atkin, Professional Learning Officer, ACHPER NSW
Janice has worked as a PDHPE teacher, head teacher, and curriculum consultant for 30 years. She has extensive experience with curriculum development in NSW, Australia and internationally, and recently lead the review of the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education. Janice provides professional development, support, and resources for departments, schools, and teachers across Australia.
